We treat children's surgical diseases, such as diseases regarding digestion (like esophageal atresia, duodenal atresia, small intestinal atresia, anorectal anomaly (aproctia), malformation of intestines, short bowel syndrome, ileus, Hirschsprung's disease), diseases of liver and biliary tract (like biliary atresia, choledochus dilatation, liver cirrhosis), hernia (like inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia), respiratory diseases (like congenital diaphragmatic hernia, funnel chest, sequestration of the lung), urinary diseases (like cryptorchidism, phimosis, hydronephrotic kidney, vesicoureteric reflux). We work with the departments of thoracic surgery and urology regarding the last two fields. There is also a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our NICU cares for sick newborns in cooperation with the departments of pediatrics and obstetrics to provide safe medical care. We also treat cancer in children (like neuroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, nephroblastoma, malignant teratoma, rhabdomyosarcoma) and refractory diseases in severely handicapped children, working with the department of pediatrics. Surgeries for such diseases as inguinal hernia and umbilical hernia are performed in the day-surgery unit. We have also been performing liver transplantations in children and striving for the realization of more innocuous methods.
