For Outpatients and Their Attendants

• Please read the following notes when you visit the hospital.

1. When visiting, please note the following:

• ●We do not provide vaccination and outpatient consultation for COVID-19.
• ●Please keep the number of attendants to a minimum.
• ●Please notify our office staff if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or any abnormalities in your sense of taste or smell.
• ●All individuals must wear a surgical mask at all times throughout the hospital.
• ●Please refrain as much as possible from bringing accompanying persons into a consultation room.

2. Triage (Screening for COVID-19 symptoms)

• ●Outpatients and their attendants are asked to check their body temperature using a thermometer to confirm their health status.
• ●Depending on the temperature and physical condition, a doctor or nurse may conduct a further interview.

3. Restrictions on medical treatment

• Due to the shortage of hospital staff to deal with COVID-19, there may be restrictions on medical treatment.
• The attending physician will explain the restrictions on a case-by-case basis depending on the patient's situation.
• < Examples of restrictions on medical treatment >
  • ・You may be asked to postpone your hospitalization.
  • ・You may be asked to postpone some tests (catheterization, endoscopy, etc.).
  • ・You may be asked to postpone your surgery or may be referred to another hospital.
  • ・You may be asked to postpone your treatment (chemotherapy, radiation therapy, catheterization, endoscopic treatment, etc.).

For Inpatients and Visitors

• ● Self-restraint in behavior is requested 10 days prior to hospitalization.
• ● There is a notice regarding the prohibition of visits.

1. Practicing self-restraint prior to hospitalization

Request for self-restraint in behavior
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we ask that you avoid the 3Cs (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings) and avoid contact with anyone other than your co-residents without a surgical mask, including the other person, for 10 days prior to admission. The same applies to fully vaccinated patients.

<For 10 days prior to admission, avoid following activities that may allow you to take off your mask>

• 【Activities doing by yourself or with someone living with you】
  • e.g.) Sports/athletic facilities, bathing facilities, spas/hot springs etc.

• 【Activities doing with someone who is not living with you (separated family members, relatives, friends, etc.)】
  • e.g.) Eating, travel, karaoke, sports/athletic facilities, bathing facilities, spas/hot springs etc.

• * Students and employees living in dormitories are asked to avoid taking off their masks and interacting with others, except for eating quietly in the cafeteria.
• * There are no restrictions on activities in day services and other senior citizen facilities, as long as infection control measures are taken.
• * Short daily shopping trips, hospital visits, outdoor walks in less dense areas, school or work, etc. are allowed.

<When in self-isolation, please note the following precautions regarding contact with family members or relatives>

• • Please refrain from a homecoming visit or welcoming family member from other prefectures.
• • Even relatives who live nearby are asked to wear masks during conversations and eat separately from 10 days before hospitalization.

Cases where hospitalization is refused (or postponement of surgery, treatment, or test)
If you or your co-residents has any of the following conditions, please contact the ward where you are scheduled to be admitted at least 1 day before the day of admission.

• * If you come to the hospital on the day of admission with following cases, you may be refused admission.

<Cases where notification is required at least 1 day prior to admission>

• • The following symptoms were present in the 10-day period prior to hospitalization
  • ・Fever (37.5℃ or higher)
  • ・Newly developed cold-like symptoms (nasal discharge, sore throat, cough, etc.)
  • ・New symptoms of loss of taste or smell
• • The patient or a person living with the patient is (or was) infected with COVID-19 or has (or had) been in close contact with someone infected with COVID-19 before hospitalization.
• • The patient had conversations with an unspecified number of unmasked people before hospitalization.
• • Self-isolation was not possible.

2. Visitation Restrictions

• • Due to the COVID-19, visits are not allowed except when the hospital deems it necessary.
• • Visits to the hospital for the purpose of escorting the patient with hospitalization or discharge, handing over laundry and necessary items, etc. will be allowed with as few visits as possible.
• All visitors must observe the following precautions:
• • Please keep your stay in the hospital to a minimum (about 10 minutes).
• • If you have a fever, cough, sneeze, or any abnormalities in your sense of taste or smell that started within a few days, you will not be allowed to come to the hospital.
• • Be sure to wear a surgical mask (disposable mask). Please bring your own. Visiting may be suspended or cancelled if you do not wear a mask.
• • Please wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer before visiting a patient.

3. Requests to those who are hospitalized

• • Please wear a surgical mask (disposable mask) when you leave your bed during hospitalization. Please prepare your own mask.

4. Restrictions on medical treatment

• • In order to prevent the COVID-19, there may be restrictions on medical treatment, such as surgeries and tests. The attending physician will explain the restrictions on a case-by-case basis depending on the patient's situation.
• <About surgery>
  • • On and after May 11, 2020, patients who will be admitted to the hospital scheduled for surgery with general anesthesia will be required to undergo PCR testing for the purpose of screening for COVID-19.
  • • For patients who require urgent surgery before the PCR test results are available, surgery will be performed in a negative pressure operating room with complete infection control measures such as masks, protective clothing, and face shields.
  • • In order to ensure that the above-mentioned special surgeries are performed properly, some surgeries can be postponed in consideration of the urgency of the surgery.

• <About other medical treatment>
  • • You may be asked to postpone some tests (catheterization, endoscopy, etc.).
  • • You may be asked to postpone your treatment (chemotherapy, radiation therapy, catheterization, endoscopic treatment, etc.).
  • • You may be asked to leave the hospital or transfer to another hospital at short notice.
